My name is David and I've had a camera in my hand since 2008 when I changed my major to Photography. Ever since that decision, I've known that this is what I'm going to spend the rest of my life doing.
I travel the world photographing nature but, eventually, always find myself back in Utah and Colorado. When I'm not rappelling into slot canyons or scaling peaks in search of the perfect shot, I also love photographing athletes and friends in sports such as climbing, skiing, mountain biking, kayaking, and so on.
I specialize in large prints of the highest quality and define my work as fine-art, not just photographs. I pride myself in the natural quality of my work and always look to minimize post-production alterations. You'll find very few of my pieces that have received anything more than necessary temperature, exposure, noise, lens corrections and/or dust removal. If I do find necessary anything outside these simple adjustments, it will be notated in the description of the image.
After countless hours throughout school, and for years afterward, Photoshopping and 'adding to' images, I've come to the conclusion that it was actually taking something away from the true feeling of the scene. My goal has become to share the very real beauty of the natural world, not fabricate something to fit an ideal.
So, if you want the best quality artwork to showcase the true, raw beauty of nature, look no further! My work is available online here and around Salt Lake City with local markets and art shows when time allows.
I also offer my expertise to you as photography tips and advice in blog-style at www.dcranephoto.blogspot.com. If there is anything you would like to know more about in the world of photography, don't hesitate to ask. My most commonly received questions will be worked into the blog as well.
